|Remarks by Consul General of China in Karachi Mr. Ma Yaou at the Luncheon Held by Pak-China Club|
Honorable Chief Patron Pak-China Club Mr. Mehtab Uddin Chawla,
Honorable Chairman Mr. Javed Rashid Asghar Arian,
Dear friends, ladies and gentlemen:
Good afternoon. I am more than delighted to meet all of you today and wish to express my sincere gratitude to Pak-China Club for holding this warm welcome luncheon for me and to everybody for your presence.
It has been almost 3 months since my arrival in Karachi and I have well met Pakistani officials, friendly organizations, entrepreneurs and friends from all walks of life in Sindh and Balochistan. I also participated in the celebration marking the Independence Day of Pakistan in Quaid-e-Azam Square, Karachi. I have truly felt the profound sentiments of friendship from Pakistani friends everyday, everywhere. Bilateral relations between China and Pakistan have taken deep roots in the hearts of not only government officials but also the peoples. Friendly cooperation between our two countries accords with our interests. I firmly believe that all weather friendship and all round cooperation will be further consolidated and strengthened.
Not long ago, only within 6 weeks, Premiers of both countries concluded successful exchange of visits, recording a new highlight in our relations history. Leaders of both sides, under new circumstances, reached wide-range consensus and agreed on a series of common objectives on developing our bilateral relations. The proposal of building of China-Pak economic corridor, in particular, presents a broader prospect for bilateral cooperation, which will certainly bring about more tangible welfare for both countries and their peoples. Last year, I was working in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, in which Khunjerab sits at the northern outset of the economic corridor. This year, I am here in the scenic and robust city of Karachi with all of you, the south-most spot of this corridor. What I would like to point out here is that the building of China-Pak economic corridor will link our two countries much closer. A picturesque view of an economic corridor made up of numerous highways, rails, pipelines, cable lines, prosperous commerce and trade will be unfolding, which makes me full of hope and expectations for the future of China-Pak relations.
All friends present today have long been committed to China-Pak friendly relations and I would like to express my compliments and gratitude for your contribution. As the new Chinese Consul General in Karachi, I am in full willingness to work together with our Pakistani friends from all walks of life including Pak-China Club to further promote the course of our friendship and make new progress in growing our practical cooperation in all fields.
